In consultation with the Roma European Union JEKHIPE on 07/04/2023, in celebration of International Roma Day, the Public Planning Service for Social Integration (POD Maatschappelijke Integratie) is organizing an insightful morning event. The program includes meetings and exchanges between field actors whose mission is to improve the living conditions of Roma communities in Belgium.
The purpose of this gathering is to highlight the importance of combating antigypsyism in Belgium. This will be achieved through presentations by field experts on awareness-raising initiatives within the country.
Preliminary Program:
9:30 - 10:00: Reception of participants
10:00 - 10:10: Welcome by interim project leaders for Roma integration, Mathilde Wargnies and Mollie Schietecatte (POD MI)
10:10 - 10:20: Opening remarks
10:20 - 10:40: Antigypsyism in Belgium by UNIA (to be confirmed)
10:40 - 11:00: National strategy for Roma integration and the role of the Public Planning Service for Social Integration - Mollie Schietecatte and Mathilde Wargnies (POD MI)
11:00 - 11:20: Presentation of best practices in the fight against antigypsyism - Jekhipe (Imer Kajtazi)
11:20 - 11:40: Presentation of best practices in the fight against antigypsyism - Roma Civil Monitor (Roma coalition, presented by Biser Alekov)
11:40 - 12:15: Perspectives, debate, conclusions (UNIA - to be confirmed)
12:15 - 12:20: Closing remarks by the project leaders
12:20 - 13:00: Lunch (sandwiches and drinks)
